The oldest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender friendly bar in the United States of America is The Dixie’s Bar of Music in New Orleans. This bar has hosted a variety of big names and is home to one of the best “Drag Brunch” shows in the world. The club was a hub for artists to congregate and enjoy live music, in addition to being significant for accepting NOLA’s LGBT population. Hurricane Katrina caused damage to the bar’s iconic 29-foot-long artwork, which caricatured more than 60 well-known performers from the 1940s. However, the New Orleans Jazz Museum displayed a refurbished version of Dixie’s artwork for the first time in 2018.
