However, he later got some relief, and people appreciated his steadfastness.
To appreciate and recognize his efforts, the British government gave him the title of the most iconic figure in 2019.
Gilbert Baker
If you know even a little about the gay community you must have seen the multicolor flag representing LGBTQ rights. Gilbert Baker was the person who designed this flag to give a unique Identity to the gay and lesbian community along with transgenders and other similar people. He was also a gay rights activist and made a lot of contributions and tried his best to give rise to gay people. Baker made the biggest banner containing the biggest flag ever at the time to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
Chris Smith
Chris Smith became the first publicly homosexual male MP in the UK in 1984, and then the first openly gay cabinet member.
He earned a standing ovation five minutes after coming out as gay. Numerous other MPs have come out as gay as a result of his actions and the supportive response he got. Since then, there have been many more homosexual cabinet ministers. The House of Commons now has 54 LGBT members, and because of this, it was dubbed the gayest parliament in the world in 2015.
Allan Horsfall
He is now frequently referred to be the “grandfather” of the gay rights movement since he publicly campaigned for office as a gay man while homosexuality was still against the law.
He established the first gay men-run advocacy group outside of London, whose efforts directly contributed to the legalization of gay marriage.
Later, the North West Committee became the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE), which at its peak had more than 5,000 members and 120 local chapters spread across the nation, making it the largest LGBT organization to ever exist in the UK.

Elton John
We all are aware of Elton John who was a great singer and artist but he disclosed that he was again in 1992 after that he faced some criticism but things got started as people were quite accustomed to this practice.
